QUICK BIT OF ADMIN:
My new meta-story involving people I actually know – Counterinsurgency Reliant Upon Diversity, or CRUD for short – is now up and running right here. If you’re interested in getting involved let me know; I have a few more main/secondary character roles to fill, and lots of bit part players. It’ll be a lot of fun!
For the next few weeks, my comic review blog will be focusing primarily on DC content, given that the New 52 starts this week with first volumes of Justice League and Animal Man. My aim will be to do a New 52 book every week – dependent on my living expenses, of course – and pepper them here and there with a quick look at Marvel when I get the chance. I know there’s a new Avengers volume out next week that looks tempting…
Free Comic Book Day – quite possibly the best day to be a geek all year besides Supanova and Comic-Con – is this Saturday, May 5, all day at your local comic book shops. I’ll be heading off to all the major stores in the Western Sydney area (except Comic Kingdom – that place is depressing) and I strongly recommend you all go check it out. You don’t need to be a comics reader to get into FCBD, and it’s a lot of fun for everyone. Plus, y’know, there’s free stuff. Who doesn’t love free stuff? Unless it’s herpes. Or Superman.
Finally, I am looking for someone dedicated enough to proof-read a novel-length manuscript for me later this year. I need someone reliable, who’ll be able to go over several hundred thousand words of science fiction prose and give honest, constructive feedback. Anyone who wants a crack at it should sound off in the comments below.
In fact, even if you don’t want to read it, sign off anyway. The comments section here needs some love.
